ISRO launches PSLV-C7 successfully
Today the 44.5 meter tall 295 tone PSLV-C7 lifted off from the Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh launch pad at 9.24 am.
The PSLV-C7 is carrying the 680 kg Indian remote sensing satellite CARTOSAT-2 which is a next satellite of CARTOSAT series. CARTOSAT-1 was launched on 5th May 2005.
CARTOSAT-1 was having ground resolution of <2.5 meter while CARTOSAT-2 has <1.0 meter. Another feature of the CARTOSAT-1 was to generate Digital Elevation Models (DEM) through which one can calculate height information of a given point on earth.
